Churchill Family Donation Benefits London Christmas Kettle Campaign


On Thursday December 22, Carl Churchill visited the Ontario Great Lakes Divisional Headquarters to present a generous gift of money towards the London Christmas Kettle Campaign.

In 2014, the Churchill Family became aware of the shortfall in revenue towards the campaign that year and decided to match the amount taken in on the last full weekend of the campaign up to $25,000. Volunteers Needed in London for Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness National Conference


The City of London, in cooperation with the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH), is seeking volunteers to assist with this year’s National Conference on Ending Homelessness which will run from November 2 to November 4, 2016 at the London Convention Centre. More than 750 people from across Canada will be in attendance including individuals with lived experience.

Bikers Ride in support of London Christmas Hamper Program

The Home Depot in east London was the site on Saturday August 20 for the 33rd annual London Toy Ride.

As many as 170 toys were collected that bikers brought in as part of their registration process. The toys were loaded up into Salvation Army vans and taken for storage at the Community and Family Services building until they will be used for the annual Christmas Hamper program.

Community Teaching Garden Opens at London Centre of Hope


The Salvation Army Centre of Hope Community Teaching Garden opened today with blessings, volunteers and community partners. Designed by Arthur Lierman Landscape Architecture, the Community Teaching Garden will serve Community and Family Services food bank customers as well as providing teaching opportunities for their Healthy Homes Program participants. Salvation Army Day with the London Majors


More than 250 Salvationists, friends and supporters joined with hundreds of other Londoners at Labatt Memorial Park in London for “Salvation Army Day” with the London Majors Baseball Club on Friday, June 5th.  A Salvation Army Band ensemble played the National Anthem prior to the start of the game and Public Relations & Development Representative, Perron Goodyear, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.  Nine-year old Amanda Leach represented the Army and served as “bat girl” during the game.

London’s Westmount Shopping Centre Hits An Easter Home Run

Local Philanthropists Help London’s Kettle Campaign Reach Goal


With only days to spare, two extremely generous donations helped The Salvation Army to reach its goal of $475,000 in the 2014 London Christmas Kettle Campaign.

On Friday, December 19, Tony Marsman of Rembrandt Homes presented a cheque for over $18,000 as his contribution to a total donation in excess of $36,000 made by attendees to the annual Rembrandt Homes Christmas Luncheon.

Emergency Disaster Services Team Assists with Rail Emergency Response Training & Real Emergency


From August 5-9, 2014 The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team from London assisted with Rail Emergency Response Training in partnership with the City of London, CN/CP Rail, the Railway Association of Canada, and members of the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada.

The multi-day awareness training provided participants with an understanding of hazardous material and dangerous goods rail emergencies.  EDS team members served break at the local rail yard twice each day for those participating in the training.  Lunch was […]
