proclMonday December 14th marked the beginning of Salvation Army Week in Halifax and Fredericton. While a small brass band played Christmas carols The Salvation Army flag was raised and the Mayor of Halifax, Mike Savage proclaimed Salvation Army Week.

In Fredericton, Lieutenant Darren Woods &  Captain Danette Woods gathered with Mayor Brad Woodside to also mark the beginning of Salvation Army Week.

The proclamation for both cities brings attention to the fact that The Salvation Army is the largest non-governmental provider of social services in Canada, providing food, clothing and shelter to over 1.8 million Canadians. Also, that The Salvation Army seeks to break the cycle of poverty that is present across Canada. Through our programs and services we believe that people can receive a helping hand to restore their lives, and get the help that they may need to deal with family crisis, or addiction.
