The shelves are stocked and there are deals to be had at the newest Salvation Army Thrift Store in the Maritimes.

Located in the Halifax neighbourhood of Spryfield (485 Herring Cove), the bright, new store offers a wide selection of gently used clothing and housewares at reasonable prices. The store opened in December, but officially celebrated its launch last month with a grand opening featuring discounts and giveaways.

“It’s wonderfully set up,” says Barb Warren, district manager for Salvation Army Thrift Stores. “This time of the year things quiet down a little bit. We really would like the public to know that this store is large, and fresh and carries lots of merchandise at great prices.”

Salvation Army Thrift Stores offer clothing and household goods at great savings for the shopper, while generating funds for the work The Salvation Army does in the community. But neither of these would be possible without the generous donations of product we receive every day. By donating, you are giving your gently used items a second life, while also supporting our work with those in need.

“It’s extremely important to get donations to keep these stores going,” Warren says. “This time of the year is traditionally when donation levels slow down a little bit, particularly right now in all clothing across the board – men, women, children, linen, etc.

“We would really appreciate it if people would go into their closets and see what doesn’t fit them anymore, or perhaps something that they have three of, and hand it off to us. We will see that it gets used in a really great way by The Salvation Army.”
