The Salvation Army is accepting items for Lower Sackville fire evacuees

Caption: Clean-up and demolition are underway at 30 Touchstone Court, while life goes on for the 24 families affected by last weeks fire. The Salvation Army is currently collecting household items, clothing and back-to-school supplies for the former tenants of the building.

As part of its continued assistance to the displaced tenants of 30 Touchstone Court in Lower Sackville, The Salvation Army will accept donated goods beginning Monday, Aug. 19.

The greatest need is for household items (such as furniture, kitchen wares and electronics), clothing and back-to-school supplies. We are currently not accepting major appliances.

Items can be dropped off to The Salvation Army Sackville Corps at 51 Metropolitan Avenue, Monday, Aug. 19, through Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Unfortunately we cannot pick up items at this time.

The 24 families affected by the early morning fire will then have the opportunity to come and take what they require throughout the week of Aug. 26. After all of the tenants have had opportunity to claim their items, remaining items will go to help the needy through The Salvation Army’s usual channels.
