Regina, SK – As part of its Capital Cares volunteer and sponsorship initiative, Capital GMC in Regina raised $5,500 for The Salvation Army through its Cash for Clunkers and Charity campaign.

“This was an easy way for Capital GMC and our customers to support The Salvation Army.  It supplies a great service to the community and we admire the work they do in helping meet the needs of the less fortunate in this great city of Regina,” stated Bruce Axelson, President of Capital GMC.

During the months of December and January, the Cash for Clunkers and Charity campaign gave every customer of Capital GMC who traded in a vehicle $2000 towards the purchase of a new or used vehicle. Every vehicle traded also meant The Salvation Army would receive a $100 donation from Capital GMC.

“We are thankful for the generosity of Capital GMC and its customers who traded a vehicle in support of this initiative,” said Major Mike Hoeft, Area Commander for The Salvation Army Prairie Division. “Monies raised through this campaign go to support Salvation Army programs and services in Regina such as Gemma House – a program providing a safe and nurturing environment for young girls experiencing challenges while they learn important life skills.”

Capital GMC presented The Salvation Army with a cheque for $5,500 at a public event at their location at 4020 Rochdale Blvd on Saturday, February 1st.
