The Ontario Great Lakes 14th Annual Salvation Army Golf Day was held on May 26, at the Beverly Golf and Country Club. 140 golfers participated from across the Division’s business and philanthropic communities and raised over $26,000 toward The Salvation Army Red Shield Campaign.

The event was emceed by 102.9 Klite FM radio personality, Sunni Genesco, who also took part in the event as a golfer.  The tournament began with lunch, followed by a prelude of the event’s activities from Dan Millar, Area Director for Public Relations & Development, and a shotgun start at 12:30 PM.  Also featured were a variety of contests, prizes, as well as a silent auction.

The Salvation Army Ontario Camping Ministry was highlighted throughout the event. During the evening dinner program, Captain Rick Zelinsky, Excutive Director of Ontario Camping Ministries, spoke about camp and the impact it has had on children and youth. Each golfer was given a towel as a gift prior to the tournament to serve as a reminder that camping ministries is providing a life changing experience to thousands of young people each year.  Many donated their towels back to be given to young people who attend camp this summer.

The Salvation Army would like to thank all of our sponsors, especially our event sponsor, Old-Republic Insurance Company of Canada, as well as all the participants and volunteers for making this event a success.
