On Friday, May 13th and Saturday, May 14th Suncoast Citadel, in Goderich, hosted a fundraiser to assist with fire relief efforts in Fort McMurray. Having experienced the effects of a natural disaster, and the outpouring of love from those outside the community, it was evident that this cause hit home with many. In addition to many from its own congregation, the fundraiser attracted volunteers from the Pentecostal Church, Anglican Church, Catholic Church and Presbyterian Church. The BBQ was set to start for 11am and people were ready and waiting to support the cause.

DSCN1132The Salvation Army’s mascot, Sally Ann, was also on site to direct traffic to the barbeque location. The congregation at Suncoast Citadel supplied all the items needed for the BBQ so that 100% of community donations went directly to Fort McMurray.

With one day of sunshine and another day of wind and rain, Suncoast Citadel was blown away by the support of the community. In just two short days, $4,199.22 was raised to support the work of The Salvation Army's Emergency Disaster Services response in Fort McMurray! Praise the Lord.
