On June 26th, 2015 The Salvation Army Suncoast Citadel kicked off a weekend of celebration with a Newfoundland-Style Jigg’s Dinner. Over 100 people were in attendance at the evening’s meal of turkey, salt beef, veggies galore and blueberry cake for dessert. In addition to the good meal, 10 people were “Screeched-In” as honourary Newfoundlanders. The evening offered a great way to kick off a weekend of celebrating 130 years of God’s faithfulness to The Salvation Army in Goderich.

On Saturday the celebration continued at the Goderich Thrift Store as Sally Ann came to town to greet traffic and spread her joy. Visitors to the store enjoyed a BBQ lunch hosted by members and leaders of Suncoast Citadel and Sally Ann.

The highlight of the weekend came as Suncoast Citadel took their celebration service outside on Sunday. With the assistance of The Salvation Army’s Jubilee Brass Band, the people of Goderich and Clinton heard the message of God’s faithfulness. Lieutenant David Hickman, Corps Officer, spoke of God’s faithfulness to The Salvation Army in Huron County and encouraged those in attendance to reflect on God’s faithfulness to each of them. In addition to the offering of music and worship, the Goderich Community was also served hamburgers, hot dogs and cake! Although the weather for the day was a little soggy the Spirit behind the day was not.

Lieutenant Laura Hickman, Corps Officer, shares, “God has been faithful to The Salvation Army and it was a privilege to publically celebrate His faithfulness. We praise God for all He has done through Suncoast Citadel during the past 130 years and anticipate the greater things that are still to come.”
