The Salvation Army is deeply saddened by the events that unfolded yesterday in the City of Toronto, and our prayers go out to all those who have been affected.

Yesterday, The Salvation Army visited the memorial site for the victims of the tragic incident at Yonge and Finch.

Divisional Secretary for Public Relations, Glenn Van Gulik and Corps Officer of North York Temple, Major Sandra Stokes praying at the vigil held for victims of the Toronto tragedy.

The Salvation Army has connected with the City of Toronto and Mayor John Tory, offering our practical and pastoral support, while reassuring everyone of our prayers at this time.

Our Divisional Director of Emergency and Disaster Services has spoken directly with Toronto Police Services and the City of Toronto’s Office of Emergency Management, and our team remains on standby, ready to serve through practical emotional and spiritual support as needed.

Please join us in praying that God’s strength, peace and comfort would be felt by the families and friends of those who have lost their lives or were injured, as well as the first responders and Salvation Army officers and employees who are serving and ministering to the community.
