The Good Neighbour Energy Fund (GNEF) has opened for the 2017 heating season. Nova Scotia Power, in partnership with the provincial government and The Salvation Army, has been providing home heating assistance for families and individuals across Nova Scotia since 1997.

The GNEF provides emergency assistance for all forms of heating, including propane, oil, fuel, firewood, coal, and electricity. The application form can be accessed online or at any Salvation Army office across the province. Applicants are able to apply for the program every 24 months, which runs annually from January 15 to April 30.

If you would like to help a neighbour in need, customers of Nova Scotia Power can donate to the GNEF by adding a monthly contribution to their power bill. For every $3 donated by customers, Nova Scotia Power will donate $1. For more information on contributing to the GNEF, please click here.
