Although school doors have slammed shut, the doors at The Salvation Army’s Scotian Glen Camp are wide open, as nearly 600 children from all over the Maritimes have a summer camp experience that they will never forget.

Scotian Glen Camp is available to children from low-income households. Children spend their days playing sports, swimming, making crafts, etc. Nights are spent around campfires, with sing-a-longs and new friends. Camp allows kids to forget about the obstacles of daily life and to enjoy being a kid.  camp crop 2

“Camp is about making a difference in the lives of children,” says Captain Morgan Hillier, Divisional Youth Secretary. “It is not only life changing for young campers, but also for the counsellors, as they have the opportunity to share compassion and care to these children. Camp is important for giving hope and sharing God’s love. Even though camp is only for a week, the relationships that are made are long lasting.”

In addition to serving children aged 7-12 Scotian Glen Camp also offers a unique program called Moms & Tots Camp. It allows a break from daily life and provides a chance for moms to network with other women experiencing many of the same things, while providing a safe and fun environment for their children.camp crop 3
