Whether it’s the highlight of your year, or your annual test of patience, summer is here and for some that means it’s time to dust off the clubs and head to the great outdoors.

Enjoy a day on the course for a great cause at the fifth annual Salvation Army Golf Tournament, presented by Transcontinental Printing. This year’s tournament will take place Friday, Aug. 12, at Granite Springs Golf Club in Bayside.

The tournament raises funds for The Salvation Army’s Scotian Glen Camp in Thorburn, NS. In its four-year history, the tournament has raised over $50,000 to help send children to camp. As the tournament continues to grow, the funds raised have steadily increased. Last year alone, Transcontinental presented The Salvation Army with a cheque for $16,500.00.

Over the past three camping seasons, nearly 1,400 campers attended children’s and mom and tots camps at Scotian Glen. Thanks in large part to the support of this golf tournament, these Maritimers have enjoyed vacations they otherwise would not have had access to.

As in past years, the tournament is a scramble format and will feature many contests and prizes for participants. There will also be a carved beef dinner following play.
