The iconic Beary Merry Christmas concerts in Halifax had extra to celebrate this year – a cheque for $30,000 from Metro Halifax / Truro Shoppers Drug Marts for The Salvation Army.

Earlier in the fall, The Army and Shoppers Drug Mart partnered to raise funds to advance women’s whole health in and around Halifax through the ninth annual Tree of Life campaign. $30,000 amounts to a 33 per cent increase in funds raised in the district, year-over-year – a new record. Find out more about the partnership HERE.

The Beary Merry concerts in Halifax starring Liz Rigney and Scott Boyd with The Stadacona Band were an excellent opportunity to recognize this tremendous effort.

And, of course, we’re grateful to the likes Marjorie Kirby of Bedford (photo with Major Brenda Bungay) who helped deliver a record amount of teddy bears for kids in need.

Some of the bears were almost as large as the cheque!
