This Valentine’s Day, we are making it about more than just roses and milk chocolate. In fact, there are many other ways to give from the heart today. Here are our top 5:

  1. Volunteer – We can never have enough volunteers to help us provide compassionate care and emotional support to our clients. Volunteer at one of our 59 locations across BC today by clicking here.
  2. Reach out to someone – Call up an old friend, write your loved one a letter, or send a quick text telling someone you are thinking of them. Often, the simple act of listening can improve the mood, and alleviate symptoms of someone that may be struggling with mental health.
  3. Clean out your closet – Get a head start on spring cleaning by sorting through new or gently used clothing, toys and furniture and drop it off at a Salvation Army Thrift Store location nearest you.
  4. Perform a random act of kindness – Pay it forward today by purchasing coffee for the car behind you in the drive thru or simply by exchanging smiles with a stranger. Click here for more random acts of kindness ideas.
  5. Donate – Make a grand gesture by contributing to a charity closest to that special someone’s heart. We accept donations year-round to offer compassionate support to individuals, children and family in need in your community. Click here for ways to help.

In any capacity you wish to give today, let it be from the heart. Any gift of love will change the life of someone close to you this Valentine’s Day.
