After years spent away studying to be a teacher, Alex Stoney, 28, is happy to be home in Gitanmaax, a village in North Central BC, where he works for The Salvation Army as the Children’s Youth Ministry Coordinator. As important as home is, Alex has also found a place at the Army’s Camp Mountainview, located between Houston and Smithers. Stoney attended the camp for years, first as a camper, then as a counsellor, and most recently as Camp Director.

“Something has always called me back there,” he says. And he sees it as a place of transformation for others just as it was for him. “At camp, all the ingredients are there to make a difference in kids’ lives,” he says.  “There’s fun, caring adults, good food, the outdoors, friends, and lots of ways they can grow spiritually.”
