Donors, volunteers, sponsors and partners across the province helped The Salvation Army in British Columbia with the 2012 Christmas kettle campaign in meeting the $4 million target.  The National kettle campaign raised $20.6 million, just short of the Army’s $21 million goal.

All the donations collected will go towards supporting The Salvation Army’s programs, services and resources available to those in need across local communities.

“In BC, we have seen an increase in need with the number of individuals and families coming to us for support.  We are incredibly grateful for the continued generosity shown to our organization in helping us to help others.  The dollars raised will provide not only food, shelter and clothing, but also dignity and hope,” shared Major Ken Ritson, Divisional Secretary for Public Relations and Development.

2012 marked the 106th anniversary of The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign. In addition to physical kettles located on street corners and shopping centers, donors also had the option to give online through www.FilltheKettle.com and by text message.

Major Ken Ritson went on to say, “We are humbled year after year by the heart and care of British Columbians, without such kindness, The Salvation Army would not be able to continue our mission of Giving Hope Today.”

Thank you to all who continue to support the work of The Salvation Army throughout the year and in particular, during the Christmas season.
