New leadership of The Salvation Army in British Columbia

susanTaking over the role of Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army in British Columbia is Major Susan van Duinen. Major van Duinen will be responsible for all of the operations of The Salvation Army throughout the province and her diverse and vast experience of over 30 years of service will provide the background for her leadership.

Having served in local, divisional and territorial appointments across Canada, Major van Duinen has also served in Germany and the Czech Republic.  Her most recent appointment was as the Divisional Commander of the Manitoba & North West Ontario Division.

The Salvation Army has been serving in communities across British Columbia since the 1880’s meeting a myriad of needs as they have emerged and evolved, always being blessed with great leaders and leadership teams.  Major Susan van Duinen is the 23rd senior officer to be appointed to the role of Divisional Commander in British Columbia.

Major van Duinen holds a Masters of Divinity with a major in counseling and is currently completing her doctoral studies in clinical psychotherapy.  She has represented Canada at international forums and has made presentations to the General’s Consultative Council in London, England.
