Heavy rains over the weekend in Thunder Bay have prompted a nationwide appeal for help.

“Hopefully we will see an influx of donations to remove some of the burden off people who are coping with the cost of cleanup and other concerns,” says Major Merv Halvorsen of The Salvation Army.

Thunder Bay and surrounding areas battled with issues such as flooding basements, washed out roads and no power. While the rains have stopped and the flood waters are receding, the damage will take days and weeks to fix.

On Wednesday The Salvation Army was delivering food and other necessities to those who needed it.
