The Santa Shuffle is about others and giving back to your community. On Saturday, December 4, the Santa Shuffle, a 5 km run and a 1 km walk, will raise awareness and funds for local Salvation Army programs during Christmas and throughout the year.

The Shuffle started in 1990 in Edmonton as a local fundraiser for The Salvation Army. It has since expanded to 34 communities across the country. Each participant collects pledges prior to the event to raise funds to support the social service work of the Army. In 2009, 8,300 runners raised more than $450,000.

This year, All Weather Windows, one of Canada’s largest manufactures of windows and doors, joins the Salvation Army as National Presenting Sponsor of the Santa Shuffle by pledging a total of $300,000 over three years. Furthermore, employees from all branches across Canada have a goal of raising additional pledges of $100,000 in year one.

To sign up as an individual or team, participants can register online at www.santashuffle.com. Volunteers are always welcome and can check the Santa Shuffle website for more information. You can also ‘Like’ The Santa Shuffle on Facebook or follow The Santa Shuffle on Twitter!
