The Salvation Army Seeks Assistance in Helping Flood Victims Recover

With flood levels in South Western Manitoba at a critical stage, The Salvation Army is mobilized, responding and working diligently to address the physical and spiritual needs of those impacted by this disaster. To date, more than 10,000 meals have been served throughout SW Manitoba. In addition to portable canteen units The Army has provided personal care kits, light snacks, refreshments, emotional and spiritual care at local flood reception centres.

For many, this flood marks the beginning of a long, heart-wrenching process of rebuilding. A great number of people have lost treasured possessions, furniture, homes and even livelihoods. Unfortunately, after the disaster, many will find that available insurances and Government assistance may be inadequate to meet their varied needs.

After the sandbaggers have gone and when the country’s focus is turned elsewhere, The Salvation Army, as the largest direct non-governmental service provider, will provide much needed services and supports to those faced with the awesome task of rebuilding their lives and their future.

The task is great and we cannot complete the work that needs to be done without the generous support of caring people, organizations, corporations and groups in our community.
