The Salvation Army Responds To Toronto 6 Alarm Highrise Blaze

TORONTO, Sept. 24 /CNW/ – Just before 5:00pm a six-alarm blaze broke out on the 24th floor in a highrise on Wellesley Street and quickly spread to adjacent floors. The Salvation Army arrived on scene within an hour to provide nutrition and hydration relief to first responders and evacuees.

Mr. Jeff Noel, of The Salvation Army Emergency and Disaster Services, arrived on scene, and immediately called in Salvation Army canteens from Toronto and Oshawa to assist. Further Salvation Army Emergency and Disaster Services personnel and support personnel have been dispatched and are on scene to assist where needed. A reception centre has been set-up. The Salvation Army will continue to monitor the situation and work in cooperation with local emergency personnel and City of Toronto officials.
