The Salvation Army in Canada will allocate $50,000 to the Relief Effort in New Zealand

Thursday February 24, 2011 – As The Salvation Army in New Zealand continues its response to the earthquake that hit Christchurch on February 22nd, The Salvation Army in Canada is pleased to announce that it will allocate $50,000 to support this relief effort.

The Salvation Army in New Zealand is focusing on providing food and psychological support to people affected by the earthquake that devastated the Canterbury region.
The Salvation Army began its work in New Zealand in 1883 and there are currently 538 officers and over 10,000 active members of the Army. The Salvation Army serves the vulnerable and marginalized with more than 100 ministry units throughout the country.

The Salvation Army stands ready to continue to help the city during this terrible time of great grief and human need.
