The Salvation Army is pleased to announce specific strategies in regards to disbursing funds donated to victims of Hurricane Igor.

Funds raised through the VOCM Cares Foundation Radiothon, Telus Mobility and other public donations, will allow The Salvation Army to identify needs and provide resources to help families recover some of their losses that are not recoverable through any other programs.

Assistance will be provided through an application process. Applications will be circulated through municipal offices, online at Salvationarmy.ca/newfoundland or by contacting community outreach workers who have been appointed to facilitate the application process for the three regions most severely affected by the hurricane, namely Burin Peninsula, Clarenville/Random Island and Bonavista and area.

The Salvation Army will co-ordinate with other service agencies and organizations in order to avoid duplication of services and ensure wisest use of public donations.

In addition, The Salvation Army thanks Telus for participating in the Army’s text-to-donate program, for their monetary donation and for providing cell phones for use by Salvation Army workers in the flood affected zone.
