The frequency and impact of natural disasters is on the rise worldwide.  Earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, forest fires, tornadoes, ice storms and severe rain storms are happening more often than ever before.

It is important to be ready for a variety of situations and that is why disaster management training is critical.

The Salvation Army has developed a very detailed training program, the National Disaster Training Program (NDTP).  Volunteers are trained in every aspect of emergency response that includes food-service handling and delivery, and emotional and spiritual care. The Army only uses pre-trained, pre-registered volunteers during an emergency or disaster response.

An established and well-rehearsed emergency protocol allows the Army to deliver fast (often first at the scene), efficient service to disaster survivors.
