Salvation Army Prepares as Hurricane Igor Approaches Bermuda

Bermuda, Saturday September 18, 2010 – The Salvation Army Emergency Response is prepared to help people as a hurricane warning is in effect for Bermuda. Hurricane Igor is expected to hit or approach Bermuda by Sunday night. Conditions from Hurricane Igor are expected to deteriorate Saturday. A dangerous storm surge is expected to produce significant coastal flooding. The surge will be accompanied by large and destructive waves, especially along the southern coast.

The Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army in Bermuda, Major Shawn Critch, reports that food menus have been prepared, supplies have been ordered and an emergency shelter is available. Also, emergency mobile vehicles are ready to be deployed as needed.
