In a service held north of Toronto on July 6, Commissioners Brian and Rosalie Peddle were installed as the leaders of The Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda. “In my new role as Territorial Commander of The Salvation Army, I recognize that The Salvation Army has a huge responsibility,” says Commissioner Peddle. “I am committed to keeping the Army strong, ready and willing to serve, offering hope and dignity to vulnerable men, women and children.”

Immediately prior to their appointment to the Canada and Bermuda Territory, Brian and Rosalie served as Senior Executive Leaders in the United Kingdom. In the spring of 2011, while serving in England, they chose to “live below the line,” not spending more than £1 a day, for five days, to raise awareness of the nearly 1.4 billion people around the world who are forced to survive everyday on less than £1 a day.

“Having very briefly experienced the difficulty of living under the poverty line,” continues Commissioner Peddle, “I will make tireless efforts to put hope and dignity within reach for the 1.7 million Canadians living in poverty today.”

While Commissioner Brian Peddle serves as the Territorial Commander, Commissioner Rosalie Peddles will serve as the Territorial President of Women’s Ministries for The Salvation Army.

In his current position, Commissioner Brian Peddle is the chief spokesperson for The Salvation Army’s continuing work throughout Canada and Bermuda, which includes:
• The unacceptable level of poverty in a world where many have so much
• The need to eradicate poverty by continuing to educate and inspire the public, and work towards a Canada without homelessness.
• Advocating for social justice as people have encounters with the Army
• A responsibility to impact our world by serving those in need.
• A calling of mission of service that provides dignity and respect.

Brian and Rosalie have two married daughters and four grandchildren.
