Salvation Army Barbecue Helps Families go to Camp
Prince Albert – The Salvation Army Outpost on Central Avenue held a barbecue on Thursday to raise money for families wishing to attend Kinasao Lutheran Bible Camp.
“Today, we have a number of families who want to go to a family camp and it’s financially difficult for most, especially if they have kids,” Salvation Army office manager Mary Anne Carter said.
While fundraising from the barbecue primarily goes to offset food costs, a particularly successful cookout might defray additional expenses at the camp, which the Salvation Army runs but does not own.
“If we raise a little extra, then it’ll help offset the camp fee as well,” Carter said. “We rent the camp and it’s $15 per person a night, and that’s no food included.”
By half past noon on Thursday, business at the barbecue was booming. Carter described the response as “excellent.”
