Calgary, AB – May 16, 2011 – The devastating fires in Slave Lake has left hundreds of people homeless and forced most of the town to evacuate for safety. The Salvation Army has stepped in to provide various services at the reception centres that have been set up to aid those who have been required to leave their homes. Services differ for each location and include food, clothing, bedding and blankets, as well as emotional and spiritual care. At this time there has been no request for clothing or household items therefore The Salvation Army will not be accepting donations of that kind. However, monetary donations are being accepted and will aid further in helping those left homeless long after the fires have burned out.

To make a monetary donation please visit www.SalvationArmy.ca and specify your gift for the Slave Lake Disaster Relief Fund or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY or visit your local Salvation Army. Thank you for your support.
