Camping season is off to a great start this year at The Salvation Army Jackson’s Point Camp!

On Wednesday, July 4, representatives from Salvation Army Thrift Stores in Ontario, including Retail District Managers Maria Guayacan and Priscilla Jogaratnam along with Store Managers Michelle Sanelli and Shaney Cannon, were at Jackson’s Point to present a cheque for $22,462 to help send children to camp.

The money was collected through generous donations made by customers at Thrift Stores across Central Ontario during this year’s Send a Kid to Camp fundraiser. The donation represents the fee required for 102 children to spend a week at Salvation Army camps (Jackson’s Point and Camp Newport) this summer.

“A week at our Adventure Camp is truly an amazing and exciting experience for the kids. They are able to swim, make crafts, engage in challenging activities such as archery, canoeing and mountain biking,” said Captain Stephen White, Divisional Youth Secretary.

“It is a week that is dedicated to them having fun and making new friends. We are grateful to the Thrift Stores for helping us to provide such life-changing experiences to these deserving children.”
