  • Part Time
  • Hours: Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM


  • Crisis intervention among community, shelter, EWR, and OP guests, liaise with emergency personnel arriving at the Gateway
  • Engage with and provide support to community meal guests
  • Be a welcoming presence to volunteers, guests, participants, donors
  • Act as after-hours reception for both phone and front door, by means of portable phone
  • Provide building security while engaging with participants, community & shelter guests
  • Hosts / supervises scheduled amenities room activities for residents
  • May receive general donations, handles public complaints, acts as primary community liaison, assists outside users or groups renting or offering programs at our facility
  • Accurately records day-to-day happenings; maintains logbooks and completes incident reports
  • In partnership with shelter staff, assisting shelter guests in everyday situations
  • In partnerships with OP advisors; provide support to current and new OP, ie. room checks, tours for new participants, POD visits, etc.


  • Calm demeanor with the ability to bring down the intensity of crisis situations
  • Builds rapport easily and quickly with everyone when possible
  • Relationship focused, with a proven record of displaying empathy and compassion
  • Adaptability to change and frequent interruptions
  • Team oriented and able to take initiative
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Criminal Record Check
  • CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training an asset
