Responsibilities

  • Ensure security through a high level of resident supervision
  • Maintain accurate logs and records
  • Support Salvation Army Correctional Justice Services’ Mission statement in a practical manner
  • Accept delegated responsibility for residence when designated
  • Comply with policy and procedures as outlined in The Youth Criminal Justice Act, Salvation Army Correctional Justice Service’s Policy and Procedure manual, The Ministry of Children & Youth Services, Child & Family Services Act
  • Other duties include: medication delivery, escorts, meeting attendance, and court appearances (if necessary)
  • Current clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening

 

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Child Care, Correction or Social Services and related experiences. Candidates in the process of obtaining a degree or diploma will also be considered
  • Knowledge of Correctional practices
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certificates required

HOURS: The candidate is expected to bring with him/her a flexible schedule that will allow scheduling of ANY eight (8) hour shift (day / afternoon / night) during our continued 24/7 operation. Candidates are expected to make themselves available and accessible (possibly on short notice) to the agency for shift coverage, as stated above, in the event of unexpected and unforeseen events. Flexibility and accessibility to the agency is a must.
