Note: Three (3) positions available.

This is a temporary full time seasonal position.  The supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.

Travel is required through various locations in the Ontario Great Lakes Division.

Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities – some weekend and evening work is required.

The working conditions are such that in order to meet the operational needs of the Camp at Home program, flexibility is required as it relates to hours of work.

Normal location of work is at various Salvation Army Ministry Units across the Ontario Great Lakes Division.

Start Date: June 25, 2018              End Date: August 25, 2018


Assist the Program Coordinator in the preparation, planning, and implementation of the Day Camp program, which includes but is not limited to, the daily set up and take down of program materials.

Assist and lead program areas (i.e. sports, arts & crafts, music, etc.) as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

Provide oversight to a small group of campers.

Guide campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities.

Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities.

Observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.

Perform other position related duties as required.


Some post-secondary education required.

Some previous experience in a camp setting and working with children would be a definite asset.

Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License would be an asset.

You may be required to drive a large 8 passenger SUV and / or a 7-passenger mini-van, which at times will be towing an 8-foot trailer.

You may be required to participate in a professional driving assessment.  If needed, employer sponsored training will be provided.

Valid CPR/First Aid Certification would be a definite asset.

Ability to teach and lead various activities.

Excellent character, integrity, and adaptability.

The desire to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere.

Self-motivated and disciplined.

Ability to communicate and work with a variety of ages and skill levels.

Previous experience working with children.

Previous experience in team leadership.

Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.  The screening is secured either through the National Canadian Policy Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
