“Most of us think of Christmas as a festive time, with presents under the tree, surrounded by friends and family,” says a Salvation Army volunteer. “But for many it’s a time of sadness and anxiety, without family or support.”

Organizations like The Salvation Army need volunteers year-round but even more so during the Christmas season.

“Volunteering not only gives you a sense of purpose, seeing people succeed is an amazing return on your investments,” says another volunteer. “It’s heart-wrenching when you see a 6’7” man explode with tears because he is so thankful for a turkey that made Christmas real for his family.”

Volunteering is a great way to help others in their time of need. For more information on volunteering with The Salvation Army click here.
