Handymen in Barrie are helping people get back on their feet—for free.

A member of a local church in Barrie, Ontario, started a Helping Hands program, where church members volunteer handyman services to those who really can’t afford it.

“We stick to small jobs that can be wrapped up in two or three hours,” says founder Randy Warren. A family man with a full-time job, Warren says the intent is to reach out beyond the congregation to the community and to those who need help most.

Whether it’s fixing leaky faucets, or hanging pictures, or repairing drywall, this network of support is restoring dignity and hope to low-income families and single women.

Recipients are often dumbfounded that a stranger is willing to help out.
