Volunteering and giving back is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give this Christmas.

As The Salvation Army embarks on its Christmas campaign, it relies on volunteers to make Christmas memorable for people in need.

From assisting on our iconic red kettles, to feeding the hungry, to sorting toys and packing food hampers, volunteering will:

  • make a child’s eyes light up when they unwrap a new toy on Christmas morning;
  • give a homeless person Christmas dinner and a friend to share it with;
  • provide a food hamper to a family who can barely afford to pay rent;
  • restore dignity to a father whose fixed income doesn’t allow him to put anything under the tree;
  • give a child a warm coat so they don’t feel or look any different than their friends.

Christmas is approaching and while many of us focus on decorating and buying gifts, it’s easy to forget the thousands of vulnerable families who struggle to put food on the table.

Volunteering doesn’t require a lot of time or special skills, just a willing heart.
