Daniel loves summer camp and he wants to tell you why. “There are no parents and no SISTERS to bug you!” says Daniel. “And, there are blue popsicles and sandcastle contests. I recommend you go to camp.” Read more of Daniel’s camp experience.

What to see and do
Lac L’achigan is a kid’s summer camp near a big lake. It’s located about 50 kilometres north of Montreal. There is a sandy beach to play on and the water is safe to swim in. There are mussels in the water so you have to look out for shells. They have paddleboats, canoes and kayaks. There is also a trampoline in the water. In the deep water there is a raft that you can dive off of. On the beach they have a campfire at night. There is a big dining hall, a chapel, an arts and crafts hut and eight cabins for kids on the camp grounds. There were not a lot of bugs. I made a lot of friends.

One of my new friends is the person who runs the camp. Her name is Sunshine. My counsellors were Pippin and Superman. I went on a paddleboat. There was a sandcastle contest. At the campfire we had marshmallows and got to toast them. In crafts I made a flowerpot for mom.

On the last day, the camp made us a 20-foot long sundae. We ate a lot of the ice cream then my counsellor decided to start a food fight. That was fun. It rained two times that week but I still liked camp. There are no cars so you can run FREE! I will go back next year.

World-class shopping
Lac L’achigan only has one place to shop at. It’s the canteen. It sells lots of stuff that you might need at camp. They have chips, Coke, candy, t-shirts, suntan lotion, toothpaste and brushes. And they have blue popsicles!

Where to ZZZZZZ!!!!!!
Newport Cabin is the best cabin to stay in. It is one of the biggest cabins on the camp. There are two showers. It has bunk beds. Get there first to get a top bunk. At night you can look outside the window and see the lake. Newport can hold 20 kids and two counsellors. The cabin is near the beach so you can be the first one to get to the water. You have to make your own bed. Bring your sleeping bag, it’s faster.

Where to stuff your face!
At camp Lac L’achigan there is only one place to eat, The Old Dining Hall. They have a staff of eight waitresses. The first night we had lasagna. The second, pizza and the third was hamburgers. I liked the pizza best. The best dessert was blue Jell-O with whip cream. (Mom never makes Jell-O)
