Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life have donated $50,000 to The Salvation Army’s Christmas fundraising campaign to help low-income families have a brighter Christmas.

Antoinette, single parent of six, is one of many who turn to The Salvation Army for support. “Due to my limited resources, Christmas is always challenging for me,” she says.

While many of us are fortunate enough to enjoy the Christmas season, thousands of Canadians are struggling to make ends meet. In fact, one in 10 Canadians lives in poverty.

“We’re pleased to help The Salvation Army and the families it supports at such a special, yet for many Canadians, challenging time of year,” says Jan Belanger, Vice-President, Community Relations for the companies. “We hope our donation to the campaign helps make a difference and encourages others to extend their generosity to those who truly need it most.”

Supporters such as Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life make it possible for The Salvation Army to continue to offer hope to 1.8 million Canadians every year facing hard times.

“We are grateful for this generous donation,” says Major Les Marshall, Territorial Secretary for Public Relations and Development for The Salvation Army in Canada. “It helps us deliver the message of hope and offer a Christmas where there might not be otherwise.”
