It’s Spring―a time of year when many people declutter, organize and clean. This year, when you think about what you want to do with your unwanted items, consider donating to The Salvation Army, where your donations will go a long way in making a difference in your community.

“Proceeds from every donation help to support Salvation Army programs and services such as shelters, addictions programs and summer camps,” says Tonny Colyn, National Donations Manager for Salvation Army Thrift Stores.

When you donate to The Salvation Army you are changing lives for people such as Randi, who completed a Salvation Army addiction program and has been reunited with her children. And Samar, a single parent who is utilizing our food bank so she doesn’t have to deny her children basic foods such as milk and cereal.

“By shopping at and donating to thrift stores you help to provide dignity and hope to children, families and adults in your community,” says Colyn. “Donating also helps the environment by keeping waste out of landfills.”

As one of Canada’s largest social service agencies, The Salvation Army supports vulnerable families and individuals in 400 communities across the country and provides support and practical assistance to over 1.9 million Canadians each year.
