Valentine’s Day can be much more than flowers and chocolate. There are plenty of ways to give from the heart. Here are a few:

1. Volunteer: There’s no shortage of ways you can help. Volunteer at a Salvation Army food bank or soup kitchen.

2. Reach Out to Someone in Need: Deliver homemade Valentine’s cards or heart-shaped cookies to the sick, the elderly, the homeless — and their caregivers. Call your local Salvation Army and ask how you can help.

3. Clean Your Closets: Get a head start on spring cleaning and donate clothes, toys, and furniture to your local thrift store.

4. Celebrate with Small Acts of Kindness: Alongside Valentine’s Day is Random Acts of Kindness Week, February 11-17. Click here to see what you can do.

5. Donate: Do you admire someone enough to want to support their favourite charity? You can make a donation in honour of someone special and a card will be sent to that person. Click here to donate.

Any gift of love will unquestionably change lives.
