A Letter of Thanksgiving

My name is Darren and I have been through a lot in my life, but this past year has been overly stressful. I’ve been struggling with many aspects of my life, from medical to financial to losing my job… I was always trying to find ways to make ends meet. Being a father of 3 with a stay-at-home wife, I did not know which way to turn.

I had heard about The Salvation Army but didn’t really realize what type of service they offered until my neighbour told me about it. He was already using these services and has been blessed with many things and support. My neighbour had nothing but great things to say about The Salvation Army.

I was just astonished with the amount of support and help that was provided to me when we needed it the most. The Salvation Army Community Ministry Worker provided me and my family with gift certificates to The Salvation Army Thrift Stores to get clothing that was greatly needed. My kids are always growing out of clothes and I’m always in need of clothes. Many times I have received phone calls from the Community Ministry Worker for food and other items that she has set aside for me to pick up. Those calls are always appreciated and welcomed and usually for some reason are received when we are in need for food.

The Salvation Army has also has helped us with my girls’ school, which is an amazing program. That’s just another expense that has to come out-of-pocket somehow and again it can be a struggle to come up with that money.

I can’t say enough good things about The Salvation Army and the support they have given me over the past year and I look forward to continuing to be blessed by this amazing service that The Salvation Army provides.

Thank you so much. God bless you.
