Always a voice of compassion and advocacy for the marginalized, well-known Edmonton radio personality Bruce Bowie has been on The Salvation Army’s Advisory Board for 18 years. He’s a dedicated volunteer and an always engaging host at the many events he has emceed for the Army over the years.

This year, The Salvation Army was honoured to thank their good friend for his service, with a nomination for the AFP Edmonton National Philanthropy Award which recognizes those who “contribute their time, talents, and dedication to the spirit of giving.”

Joining them at the awards luncheon were Bruce’s long-time friends and fellow media personalities, Nick Lees and Mark Scholtz. Along with Steve Antle, Bruce, Nick, and Mark were the members of the legendary ‘Doughboys’ that fundraised and raised awareness for The Salvation Army by running (in their own special way) in many marathons and relays.

“Bruce has done so much for The Salvation Army over the years,” says Leslie Stuart, Charitable Gift Advisor at The Salvation Army. “This recognition is our way of acknowledging how much his support means to us.”

The Salvation Army is very grateful for Bruce’s support and service. Through his compassionate nature, Bruce holds the Army to their mission of being a transforming influence in the community and with a servant heart, he leads by example.
