The Salvation Army is deploying two Community Response Units to assist with feeding 800 first responders engaged in the Fort McMurray fire response efforts. Two additional response units are preparing to arrive in the area in the next 24 hours.

All Salvation Army Officers and staff in Fort McMurray were safely evacuated to several different locations yesterday. There is no information on the status of Salvation Army properties in Fort McMurray.

A Disaster Response Team has been established at the Alberta & Northern Territories Division Headquarters to coordinate The Salvation Army’s ongoing response. Offers of assistance have also been received from Territorial Headquarters and the British Columbia and Prairie Divisions.

At this time, the best way for the public to help with relief efforts is through monetary donations via our website at www.SalvationArmy.ca .

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those impacted by this horrific fire.
