The Salvation Army Calgary Christmas Kettle Campaign received a major boost last week when Wood Automotive Group pledged to donate $100,000 by making a donation for every vehicle sold at their dealerships throughout December. Participating dealers are Woodridge Ford Lincoln, Advantage Ford, Big 4 Motors, Village Honda, Driverz Auto, Okotoks Ford Lincoln, Cavalcade Auto Acceptance, and All Makes Collision and Repair.

“A lot of people in our community are hurting right now and The Salvation Army offers help, hope, and a hand-up,” said Gerry Wood, president, Wood Automotive Group and Salvation Army volunteer board member.

To thank the Wood Automotive Group, the Public Relations & Development team paid a visit to Big 4 Motors this week where they also added to their own Christmas wish lists.

“We can’t thank Gerry Wood and the Wood Automotive Group enough, their commitment to Calgary families and the community is outstanding,” said Captain Pam Goodyear, Divisional Secretary for Public Relations & Development at The Salvation Army. “This donation goes a long way to helping us meet our kettle goal and allows us to help so many people who are struggling right now.”

All money raised by the kettles stays local and funds year-round programs and services for families in Calgary, such as emergency food kits, English language programs, life skills training, children’s programs, summer camp, and much more.
