A crowd of almost 700 supporters listened carefully as Amanda Lindhout shared her powerful and inspirational story of forgiveness, courage and hope. A fitting message, since it’s what The Salvation Army brings to millions of Canadians every year – hope, courage and dignity to Canada’s impoverished.

It’s an exciting time of year for The Salvation Army as the sound of bells draw onlookers to the red kettles. It’s that time where Calgarians reach deep into their pockets to help families in need. Donations generated from The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign go directly toward supporting programs and services for children and families at Christmas and throughout the year. The Salvation Army relies heavily on the many individuals who donate at The Salvation Army Kettles, however, businesses also play a large role in the kettle campaign.

“It’s exciting that the business community gets involved in the campaign,” explains Captain Pam Goodyear, Divisional Secretary of Public Relations for The Salvation Army. “This year we were very fortunate to have a number companies join us in the fight against poverty – their support is always greatly appreciated.”

The Salvation Army wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to its Sponsors for the 2013 Hope in the City Luncheon.
