“It’s amazing to see how much of an impact we are having here in High River,” says Garry Pearce, Re-Entry Coordinator with The Salvation Army. “One day a woman came to the Disaster Assistance Centre and noticed we were serving lunch. She told me she had been back in her house for two weeks with no power and was living off a diet of mainly granola bars. Many of the restaurants in town are still closed and residents don’t have anywhere to go. She was so thankful to finally enjoy a hot meal. Our Community Response Unit (CRU) is serving an average of 70 hot meals per day and 120 people with snacks and hydration!”
