Montclair Residence

The Mission of The Salvation Army Montclair Residence is to provide a home for autonomous and semi-autonomous senior citizens in a Christian residential setting.  Services are provided to enhance the well-being of the resident, to maximize quality of life, and to support each resident holistically as an individual.

For the past 38 years, the Montclair Residence has been providing a home for seniors.  Situated in a residential area, on a beautifully tree lined street in NDG Montreal, the goal is to make everyone feel at home. There is a large back garden for your enjoyment, as well as plenty of recreational & lounge areas.

Each resident's room is equipped with emergency call bells, sprinklers, smoke and heat detectors and a private two piece washroom.   Three nutritious meals are served daily in our dining room.  Tea-times and regularly scheduled activities are some of the ways our residents spend their day. This brightly painted and tastefully decorated building is a wonderful place to call home.

Care Offered

The Montclair Residence offers services to autonomous and semi-autonomous seniors. We can provide residents with up to 2.5 hours of daily care. These hours of care, may be made up of several different combinations of required services (personalized care plans). Our caring staff are on duty 24 hours a day and are always ready to assist you.

The nursing assistants are available to assist with baths/showers, vital signs and other medically prescribed treatments.  A professional medication system allev

iates trips to the pharmacy and offers freedom from other troublesome medication routines.  Appointments with the visiting physician, can reduce stress, by minimizing outside appointments.

Housekeeping, laundry and 24 hour security are included in the list of services offered.

Montclair Facility

The Montclair Residence has a nicely decorated dining room. The elegant atmosphere makes for enjoyable meals and social times.

There are 50 residential rooms, of four different sizes. The larger rooms are spacious enough for a couple.

Chapel services are offered weekly.  The Chapel, equipped with a baby-grand piano, is a beautiful place to sit for quiet time or sing-a-longs.  Spiritual care is a priority and is offered through our chaplaincy program.

History

In the Recreation Room there is an abundance of activities to suit everyone's desire, with activities organized by staff and volunteers.  There are also several public areas that are for welcoming guests, relaxing with a magazine or visiting with fellow residents.

The Salvation Army opened the doors to the Montclair Residence in 1950 as a residence for nursing students.  In 1978, due to the need for a retirement home for the aging, renovations were made, transforming the 50 room facility to a residence for seniors.

Striving for affordability, The Salvation Army Montclair Residence continues to operate without any government funding. Even with changes in health care regulations and the increased health needs of the aging population, it is our mission keep the costs low while offering quality care and loving service to seniors in a residential setting.
