WINNIPEG, MB – This year’s Winnipeg Toy Mountain campaign raised a total of $326,665.73 in toy and cash donations. This translated into over 18,000 toys for children in need.

“Thanks to the generosity of Winnipeggers, we were able to help provide Christmas joy for children in need in the city,” explains Brenden Roemich, Communications and Marketing Coordinator for The Salvation Army. “The most important part of the Toy Mountain equation is the involvement of the parents. Being able to ‘shop’ for your children’s presents, that’s a big gift of hope and dignity for a parent who is struggling to make ends meet. That’s what The Salvation Army offers, at Christmas time and year-round.”

All funds raised during the campaign go directly towards ensuring that this holiday season, no child goes without.

Alongside The Salvation Army and our partners stood an amazing set of groups and individuals. Volunteers from Scotiabank, the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service, Winnipeg Retired Firefighters, the Winnipeg Police Service, and a great number of families and individuals looking for the Christmas spirit all took part.

Mark Young, Executive Director of The Salvation Army Weetamah Centre, which acted as Toy Mountain HQ, is also appreciative of help from businesses. “The outpouring of corporate support again this year was great to see. Scotiabank, The Winnipeg Jets, The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Carlton Cards, St. Vital Centre, Canadian Tire, IKEA, Build-a-Bear, Future Shop, EB Games, they helped put smiles on a lot of children’s faces this year.”

In closing, we would like to offer up a thunderous “Thank You Winnipeg” on behalf of The Salvation Army, along with our sponsoring partner Scotiabank and our media partners CTV, 103.1 Virgin Radio, 99.9 BOB FM and TSN Radio 1290.
