WINNIPEG, MB – Tuesday’s Winnipeg Jets game against the Buffalo Sabres was a big one for Mark Scheifele. With two goals and an assist, the Jets’ Center lifted the team to a win.

The number the box score doesn’t show is 1708, the number of toys that Winnipeg Jets fans donated to The Salvation Army’s Toy Mountain. Along with this contribution, generous Winnipeggers also donated $5,650.53 in cash to the drive which will be used to provide toys for children in need this Christmas.

Waves of fans clad in Jets paraphernalia streamed in to every entrance to the MTS Centre and handed over gifts to volunteers from Scotiabank, True North Sports & Entertainment, the Winnipeg Police Service, and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. Even some of the Jets’ significant others took places behind the donation tables, passing up the chance to watch the win unfold in order to help collect presents.

On behalf of The Salvation Army and the families your donations help, we offer thanks to everyone that put in a great shift to make this evening a success.
