SASKATOON, SK – Thursday, July 30, 2014  The Salvation Army was at Beaver Creek Camp for the unveiling of the PotashCorp Adventure Park sign in recognition of an outdoor facilities donation.

As it is known, The Salvation Army relies heavily on community donations and corporate sponsorship.  We have been lucky enough to have a thriving relationship with PotashCorp as they have funded many of our programs, not only in Saskatoon, but across the Province of Saskatchewan.  We unveiled the PotashCorp Adventure Park sign in recognition of a $30,000 donation we received to enhance some of our outside facilities, providing a safer, and more enriched camping experience.

Some of the highlighted improvements are; the ark and sand pit located in the bowl, fencing around the camp area, garden planters and a community garden.  A large portion of the donation went to the improvement of Sully Field.

A lot of these improvements have not only increased the level of fun for the campers but provided a safer environment.  Sully Field was literally an open muddy area.  The donation allowed the space to be leveled and for sod to be laid. No more muddy games with children tripping on a bump or stepping in a gopher hole.

“As I mix and intermingle with campers and staff each day, I can see that the Adventure Park and all that it entails is truly appreciated and utilized by the campers; children and teenagers alike,” stated Kristian Simms, Divisional Youth Secretary for The Salvation Army.

Thank you PotashCorp for having the vision of giving back to your community.  Unfortunately, a lot of the time The Salvation Army is mainly thought of during the holiday season.  PotashCorp recognizes the need in our community is not only at Christmas time but year round. We greatly appreciate our relationship with you, helping to bring dignity to all regardless of any dynamic in their life.
