WINNIPEG, MB – After weeks of generous donations of school supplies from Winnipeggers, volunteers were able to fill backpacks donated by the Manitoba Chiropractors Association. The President of the MCA, Dr. Bill Mulhall, D.C., explains their involvement:

“The chiropractic community developed Pack it Light, Wear it Right to address the health issue of wearing an overloaded backpack on a developing spine (…) Pack it Light, Wear it Right addresses one of the MCA’s 4 key areas, that being, optimal Spinal Health. Our spine surrounds the most important system in the body, our central nervous system. Our nerve system controls how well our body works. A spine in less than optimal condition leads to a lower quality of life.”

Further helping the program by taking time out of his practice on Corydon Avenue to help with this final stage of preparation, Dr. Bill applauded the involvement of The Salvation Army.

“The MCA partnered with The Salvation Army because of our commitment to making life better for all Manitobans. Partnering with The Salvation Army gives us access to a community, to help us provide the necessary tools for a good start in education while delivering our spinal health message. In BC and Newfoundland, the chiropractic associations have been partners with The Salvation Army for several years in delivering Pack it Light, Wear it Right. The BC program delivered approximately 2500 backpacks this year. I hope to see this program grow in the future.”

Over 300 backpacks have been distributed this week to families in need who registered for the program, there are a few backpacks still available, contact Lori Stratton of The Salvation Army at (204) 946-9496 to apply for a backpack, while supplies last.
